Dale Jarrett is one of the most misunderstood drivers in Winston Cup. I know this because I was one of those people. That was until Daytona 1995, Dale wins the pole for that race in a car that he hadn't even drove until January of that year. Now as the pilot of the Quality Care Thunderbird he has proven ,at least to me, that he is a very capable driver. I have a theory that given the right race conditions, the right car, and a bit of good luck. A good driver can become a great driver. This can be proven by looking at Dale stats from last year and those same stats from this year. Dale was given good equipment in 1995, but it was the same stuff Ernie was running. He ran ok for the most part, but it wasn't spectacular by any means. In 1996 that changed, he was given the same cars with a different crew. That was the beginning of the road to the 1999 Winston Cup Championship.
