This is a man I consider a genius. There are very few man who have amassed the knowledge about Ford racing engines as Robert, with no disrespect to Jack Roush. The proof is in the fact that Davey amassed 19 career wins in Yates powered cars. Ernie Irvan amassed 8 career wins in a Yates cars and Dale Jarrett has 20 wins in a Yates car. I also feel Davey matured a lot under the influence and guidance of Robert. Robert was only one of the men that had a hand in steering Davey to a top notch driver.

Robert Yates began his career as an assistant engine builder with the famed Holman-Moody team and became one of the best the sport has ever known. After many years as a successful engine builder he was given the opportunity to purchase the team of Harry Ranier in 1989 and has built the effort into one of the sport's best. His integrity and ability have made him one of the most respected men in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series garage area. With the help of his son Doug and Dale's crew chief Todd Parrott. They have taken a solid foundation and turned it into a unstoppable fleet of cars that have the chance to win each and every time they hit the track.

Robert reached the pinnacle of Nascar with Dale Jarrett in 1999 by winning the coveted Winston Cup. It was the First for both. In 2000 at the Daytona 500 Robert reached another milestone with a 4th Daytona 500 win.
